Here’s your CFRC Daily News brief for Thursday, October 1 2020!

The majority of Queen’s students know or have heard of the very popular Instagram account “@stolenbysmith’. Created back in July of this year, this account has been a web-based platform for anonymous submissions to inform the public of allegations of malfeasance throughout the school. 

Yesterday, The Queen’s Journal released a story of legal action facing ‘stolenbysmith’ by a past member of the Smith School of Business administration. According to the article, the information arose during a University Council on Anti-Racism and Equity (UCARE) meeting back on the 21st of September. It was said that the allegations written on the account have motivated the legal action. In a statement to The Journal, the Smith School of Business confirmed that it is not involved in any legal action against the account; they are also taking steps to support the affected students. 

There is one new active case of COVID-19 in the region. A 40-year-old female was diagnosed and it is thought to be travel related. This is an addition to an elementary school student who was added to the KFLA’s COVID-19 dashboard yesterday. The child’s class has been sent home under precautionary measures until they can be tested. Now bringing the region’s active cases to 18 with a total of 135 cases and 117 resolved. Wait times are over an hour and the centre is open from 9 am to 4 pm for anyone considering getting tested.
