Here’s your CFRC daily news brief for Wednesday, January 6 2021!
COVID-19 update; yesterday in the KFLA public health region we had 12 new cases and 53 active cases. Dr. Moore advises anyone who has traveled over the winter break or is arriving in the Kingston area to please monitor very closely and get tested if you have any symptoms.
Starting this evening, Jan 6th, Stages Night Club will be open as a warming centre to offer respite during our cold winter evenings. The shelter will be open Wednesday, Friday and Sunday evenings from 8-11pm. Masks and sanitizer will be provided for guests when you arrive. The shelter will offer washroom access, hot drinks, snacks, hygiene supplies and warm winter clothing. This is important initiative is through a partnership between Kinston Street Mission and Lion Hearts with support form Stages Night Club and the United Way. Kingston Street Mission and Lionhearts are taking donations to support the cost of the program. Check out their webpages to donate.
The federal government has recently announced a $100 000 contribution to our local habitat for humanity. This will support one of six houses being built to provide affordable home ownership in our community.
